I agree that John is a puppy mill. I also have a sick dog from John Henkle - Von Wilendorf Shepherds that has issues with a deficient pancreas.

This make the dog nit absorb the nutrients in food so the dog has lose stools, grayish hello stools and since the dog can't absorb food the dog is very thin. This can be treated w enzymes that are very very costly. My dog has this and is very sick. John claims the vet is wrong.

I have spent thousands on vet bills and these enzymes. A dog with this issues has to be on the enzymes for life at around 200.00 per month plus. My dog is doing well on the costly treatment. John knows he has this issue in his line and after finding thus out about my dog John John took no responsibility and became very nasty with me.

What is also sad is John actually has his customers sign a contract at purchase of a pup or dog and while doing so this makes it been harder to take legal action because of his wording in this contract. John does nit stands behind his dogs because he knows they are not healthy. Pretty yes- some.. Talented yes- some..

Sickly -yes MANY!!! John is the worst person to get a dog or puppy from. Please do not ever buy a dog from this man. I am just as sick as my dog but emotionally.

I am also so sick that a man I thought loved these dogs and seemed so wonderful has hurt so many families and has created so many sick dogs.

I hooe you are reading this and will stay away from this breeder. All the best- A very sad and worn out GSD lover.

I bet your dog is as skinny as can be, right? Got a male puppy 6 years ago, dog can't absorb nutrients, wieghs a whopping 65lbs.

Possibly EPI but for sure the digestive system is ***. Don't buy a Dog from this breeder, unless you want major vet bills and a sick dog that will probably die in 8 years.

I also purchased a puppy, litter was born June 2015, me and my son drove to see the puppies several times, we picked one, he only showed us 2 each visit. We paid 3K, we picked her up at 8 weeks, when we got there he was so quick to put puppy on floor and say to my son play with her.

and said i even marked her belly so he knew and no confusion. I had concerns the way he did not let us hold her and how quick he was to get us out.

We brought her home and within a day I knew this was not the puppy, hyper her ears down, biting, constant stomach issues. When I brought these concerns to him he denied doing a bate and switch.

She was skittish, did not want to be cuddled, no confidence, certainly not like the dog that we knew from 3 visits and seeing the one we wanted was not the one we got.

But I fell in love with her and all her issues, but she kept being attacked by other dogs, 3 months a boxer at vet attacked her, the next day at puppy school, puppies 3 of them went after her.

Then again another GS. She was so afraid of dogs, the GS was full grown, aggressive, and every time she saw a dog, went to training she would screech. I had to desensitize her, in between attacks, we would go 3 steps forward then 5 steps back! I called trainers, they said she was damaged and other dogs knew this.

I was not going to give up, having PTSD and physical injury to left side, she started to be aware of my night terrors, anxiety. Mutts Mending Military and Civilians with PTSD accepted us into the program in October 2015. She could not even go to a session without barking, her hair up, but the trainers, worked with us. She has come so far and is now a certified service dog, and even two trainers said they had heard of bate and switch..

And if there are puppies that dont make the cut, if he cannot fool someone into buying one, instead of donating them he puts them down!

As I look back today I am frustrated but have kept John updated on Baileys progress. When I brought up the training/trainers that said she was damaged, was not a dog for someone with a disability he said bring her to me, we can train together why would you believe someone or others that have no idea what they are doing!

I believe everything happens for a reason, and not giving up on her, her not giving up on me, we have made it.

His business practices are not ethical. He has in his contract a huge legal section which gives you little room to try and get money back - guess he has been through this before so he covers himself I am sorry this happened, but if the dog is lame, you have the right for $ back, hips and elbows are guaranteed in the contract!
